Choose God’s way for your family

Let your life show the love of Christ

All our actions must be governed by God’s way, not our own. There is no other option than to choose God’s way and not our own. When we choose that path, we are obeying God’s word, and his words are life and peace. As we choose God’s path, we acknowledge our dependence on Him and show our willingness to listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

“See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;” “In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.”

Deuteronomy 30:15-16 KJV

Love with the love of Christ

Husbands and wives should be a direct example of God and his relationship with the Church. So, marriage should be a reflection of God’s heart and a demonstration of his love. Husband and wives living in unity and growing in strength.

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”

Ephesians 5:25 KJV

But when there is adultery and great evils happening in marriages then this demolishes the great order that was given to men. Broken marriage means broken homes, so we should all try to work on our marriages rather than giving up without trying. Don’t give Satan the chance to take from you what God has given you. Some marriage destructions are linked to deep-rooted generational battles and struggles.

Sometimes the devil comes in and starts a trend that can only be broken when family members stand on the word of God, plead the blood of Jesus, and determine that enough is enough. Do not accept any negative marital cycles from the devil. Stand up for your family and make bold declarations like Joshua, that you and your household will serve the Lord.

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Joshua 24:15 KJV

Train up your children

Satan is against children. And he is happy when the decisions that parents make are not in line with the words of God. Ungodly decisions will most definitely have a negative impact on the lives of children. He wants our children to turn away from the teaching of God and to follow the ways of the world. The more they turn away the more ungodly the world will become.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Proverbs 22:6 KJV

Start teaching faith in the home

Solid faith begins at home. Satan knows this, so he is always bringing problems in our homes and war in families. Principles for Godly living should be established in the home, which will mean less work for the Church. Home is the first place that children should learn about Jesus and his teachings. Let us work hard to build a stronger relationship with our children.

If the home structure is destroyed then the values too will be gone, and no one around to uphold or teach the principles. We should not allow Satan into our home. If he has already entered yours, you need to bind and cast him out so your family can flourish.

“And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:”

Matthew 12:25 KJV

It is time for families to get back to building on Christ. Yes, problems will arise in families they always do but it’s how we handle them that matters. We shouldn’t make permanent decisions when the problem is temporary but learn to wait and put our trust in God.

Choose God’s way and obey his commandments

Powerful, dedicated, disciplined, united, Christian families are forces to be reckoned with and will do great exploits for God and great damage to Satan’s kingdom of darkness. Therefore, Satan will do everything in his power to try and cause disunity in families. He wants to steal the joy, love, and happiness that family life brings. Therefore, put on the whole armor of God and fight against his plans

Stand firm and always be ready to fight for your family and God will do the rest. Remember the words found in Nehemiah 4:14.

“And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.” Nehemiah 4:14 KJV

Nehemiah 4:14 KJV

Spend quality time together

Families should spend time together having fun and being with each other. This will enforce stronger bonds and unity. It is good to spend time together in devotion studying the word of God, praying, and worshiping God.

Families that are rooted and grounded in Christ will thrive, so fewer issues. If the church has to spend the majority of its time dealing with family issues, counseling parents, and children then there will be less time for evangelizing and spreading the gospel of Christ. This too is one of Satan’s tactics to slow the spread of the gospel.

Parents lead by example

Fathers should lead in the home, and mentor their children, which involves teaching them about God. But how can they mentor if they don’t have a close relationship with God? It’s all about spending time in the presence of God, knowing and hearing from him.  Set a good example for your children. It’s good to set them straight but remember to give discipline fairly.

Be the role model that shows them the ways of Christ. When you make a mistake and your children see it, then admit to being wrong and show them what to do. They will follow your example, or at least have a solid foundation to measure their subsequent actions.

Choose God’s way, live right and guard your faith

People might fear and feel reluctant to share the gospel when their home is broken and most things about their life are not in order or in line with the teaching of God. Christians should pray and seek God to sustain their family, and strengthen their marriage.

Families should be a priority, sometimes we go through tests in our family but we should always hold firm to the word of God and not allow Satan to prevail.

For we walk by faith, not by sight

2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV

Satan attacks families in many ways, he might attack the finances, or health of family members. Families struggling to meet their financial needs, and take care of their children, will be disheartened and in chaos. Likewise, those who are fighting disease, sickness, and infirmities. These problems might lead to confusion and a lack of trust in God.

Many problems and situations fight and work against the family, so, we need to always be alert and ready to fight for our family.

Don’t’ give up fighting, or give in to the devil, fight for your family, and God will fight for you.

Prayer to fight for family

Father, I come to you in Jesus’ name. Lord, please help me to fight for my family. Father give me the wisdom to always do what is right for my family. Lord, let there always be unity, forgiveness, love, and harmony in my family. Lord protect us all from the attacks of the enemy and keep us strong and united. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
