10 WAYS TO KNOW GOD FOR YOURSELF

Knowing God is essential because,” the people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits,” (Daniel 11:32). Some people think they know God, but they do not have a personal relationship with him. Others are impressed with the knowledge of God while never seeking to know more. God is infinite, omnipotent, and omniscient.

God is infinite, he is not limited or constrained to any one thing. He is everywhere at the same time. His presence is always there. He rules and reigns over all the earth. God is far beyond human comprehension.

1. He is the one that created this world from nothing

The one who made the sun, moon, and stars. Mighty and strong and he loves you like none other. He is great and awesome. He is merciful and will not hold your sins against you. “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth,” (Genesis 1:1 KJV). In Psalm 24:1 David said “The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein,” so everything belongs to God. He created it all.

2. God is love

He wants you to know him for who he is and not just what others say about him. He is seeking a deep, genuine, spiritual relationship with you. It is easy to forget who you are in Christ when pressures of life are mounting. Nevertheless, you must encourage yourself in the Lord. Tell yourself that you know your God and he is still in control.

Believe that he is working it out for your good, because even if you don’t believe him. It is still the words that he has spoken and is still speaking over you. He will come true with a blessing and deliverance for you today. He loves you so much that he gave his only son for your life: that through him you can have eternal life.

Build a personal relationship with him. Get to know him “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” (Romans 5:8). He loves you dearly.

3. He created man in his image

God made everything and he created man in his image. “So God created man in his own image, (Genesis 1:27). He created everything, but the greatest of all his creation was man. He desires a deep fellowship and communion with man. That’s how important you are to God. He wants to be close to you and share your every thought. He wants you to spend time in his presence. Know that he will give you the grace if you ask him.

4. He gave his only begotten son for sinners

Adam sinned and because of this man lost their deep connection to God. God did not want to be separated from man, so he gave his only begotten son to die on the cross for our sins. That is how much God loves us. Man disappointed God, and God turned away from man because he could not stand sin. He could not stay away from us forever so he sent his son to die to reconcile man to himself.

5. Seek him with your whole heart

You must always endeavor to live your life in accordance with God’s word and His will. Stop and examine the choice that you intend to make. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. He is the one who knows the father’s heart. Consider the impact of the decision you are about to make. If it is not in line with the word of God then it is probably not the right one. Whatever you have lost can be found in him. In Matthew 6:33 it says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” The is no need to go after the things of the world. You will not find what you seek. Everything you need is in the blood of Jesus. Seek him today with all of your heart. Seek him through prayer, worship, and fasting.

6. Ask him to give you the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the one who will teach you all things. He is the comforter and will comfort your soul when you feel you can’t go on. You need his strength, to tackle life’s daily struggles. He is available to help you get through it all. Luke 11:13 says, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Ask the father for him today.

7. Accept that Jesus is your Lord and saviour

Know without a doubt that Jesus is the son of the living God that God sent him to pay for the sins of mankind. Man sinned and fell away from the presence of God. God cannot stand sin. The punishment for sin is death. God wanted all his children to have eternal life so he gave himself as a ransom for sins. Jesus is the only way, the truth, and the life. He rules and reigns over all. It says “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;” (Philippians 2:10).

8. Know that you are a part of the family of God

Once you accept Jesus as your Lord and saviour, you become a part of the body of Christ. You should fellowship with other believers so you can grow in your faith. Find a bible believing, base church so you can learn more about Jesus. The church is important in your Christian walk. It provides the environment to nurture your faith and build solid foundations.

9. Be a committed disciple of God

Now that you are a believer it is your duty to tell others about Christ, the good treasure that you have found. There is no reason to keep him to yourself. Mark 4:21 says, “And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? And not to be set on a candlestick?” Shine your light in the darkness. People need to see the light. How will they know Jesus, unless we tell them about his love?

10. Read your bible fast and pray

The holy word of God is the guide for your daily walk with Jesus. Everything you will ever need is written in his word. They should be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path. Whenever you feel confused about something, use the bible as your reference and your guide.

Spend time in prayer each day. This is the way that you talk to God. Don’t be discouraged, if you do not hear his voice readily, just know that he hears you and he will answer your prayers. He wants to know everything that is happening in your life. He has the solution to all of the problems that you will ever face. Talk to him today.

You should also fast. Fasting brings you closer to God and his provisions. When you fast you open up the way for spiritual growth and clarity. Fasting should be a habit and done with prayer and worship.

Prayer for salvation

Dear heavenly Father, I come to you in Jesus’s name. I believe that Jesus is your son that he came to this earth and died on the cross for my sins. He was buried, but on the third day, he rose from the grave. I believe he is seated with you in heaven, and I accept him today as my Lord and saviour. Father please forgive me of all my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteous. Please fill me with the Holy Ghost and power. In Jesus’s name. I pray. Amen.
